Immigrants Continue to be Released Inside the U.S.

  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) –  Mark Morgan, former head of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), said the Biden administration has taken no action to limit the influx of immigrants, so far allowing 45,000 to enter.
  • Biden re-activated the “catch and release” program that allows the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain immigrants and release them into the U.S., raising the number in less than two months.
  • On the other hand, the “Sanctuary Country” program has further complicated the situation by allowing the deportation of only those immigrants who have a criminal record and are wanted by the authorities of their country of origin, who may be terrorists or gang members.
  • Morgan stated that the current measures for unaccompanied minors are flexible; the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) forecasts that a total of 1.4 million people will enter this year.
  • However, Morgan stated that these figures may be even higher, as it is revealed, are the successful detentions, not counting those who manage to escape from the authorities and are estimated to be around 30 thousand immigrants.
  • Morgan along with a group of Republicans warned President Biden that he will not change the policies that had been implemented by the Trump administration who had kept immigration levels lower.
  • “We told them specifically, if you ended [Stay in Mexico], if you ended Title 42, if you ended the asylum cooperation agreements with the Northern Triangle countries, you will cause, you will drive an absolute crisis that will make 2019 pale in comparison,” Morgan said.
  • So far, revenues continue to rise and the Biden administration has been silent on new measures to reduce the severe crisis at the border.
