- (General Dispatch) – The CCP made a harsh criticism against the nations that the investigations of COVID 19 in Wuhan have not been clear, for that reason they are requesting a new investigation.
- Researchers said that inquiring into the origin of the virus was complicated, as the Chinese authorities’ limited access to various places that were necessary to reach an opinion.
- The report by China in conjunction with the World Health Organization (WHO) “lacks credibility,” which was offensive to Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) chief epidemiologist Zeng Guang.
- Zeng said the request for a second investigation is absurd, even “blasphemous to science,” that the first WHO report should be used for political purposes.
- 14 countries issued a statement calling for a second investigation, as it saw with concern that the first one submitted by WHO could be manipulated under Chinese interests.
- “It is essential that we express our shared concerns that the international expert study on the source of the SARS-CoV-2 virus [which causes Covid-19 disease, i.e. the Chinese coronavirus] was significantly delayed and did not have access to complete and original information, data and samples,” the statement said.
- The statement was supported by WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who expressed frustration at the limitations in providing a clear and independent response to the investigation.
- For now, it is hoped that access will be granted again for a second investigation, although the CCP is concerned that by giving full information, foreign researchers will modify it to give another opinion and thus affect China’s laws and privacy.
