- (General Dispatch) – Jamie Metzl, advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO), supported the criticism made by the international community regarding the report that has been presented on the origin of Covid-19.
- Metzl said that the report lacks credibility as the group of researchers were constrained by the Chinese authorities and failed to reach a conclusion, not really knowing whether the virus was created in a Chinese laboratory.
- Metzl said that there are different hypotheses, one of them being that it was contracted through animals, the bat being the possible protagonist, or perhaps the escape of the virus in a laboratory in Wuhan.
- It seems that the investigation has a cover-up of the Chinese government about the virus; a possible hypothesis has been that they came to manipulate the virus and by not adopting security measures, the health crisis began.
- For this reason, a new investigation is being requested with a group of foreigners, allowing the investigation to be totally independent and to explore all possible hypotheses, without the CCP being able to interfere.
- WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the leader of the team sent to Wuhan, Peter Ben Embarek claimed through the draft report that China did not allow access to vital data for the investigation.
- Around 14 nations sent a statement, after seeing as worrying a report presented by the WHO lacking credibility, where the same director demands more transparency if another investigation is to be carried out.
- “Scientific missions such as these should be able to carry out their work under conditions that produce independent and objective recommendations and findings. We share these concerns not only for the benefit of learning all we can about the origins of this pandemic, but also to open a path towards a timely, transparent and evidence-based process for the next phase of this study, as well as for the next health crisis,” said the statement
