- (General Dispatch) – The New York Times reported that the Cuomo administration intends to benefit more than 190,000 illegal aliens in the state.
- Governor Cuomo intends to benefit illegal immigrants who remain under unemployment status, allocating funds of $2.1 billion in checks.
- Such initiative was in agreement with other Democrats, without measuring the budget consequences, apart from the fact that most of the money for this project is coming out of the taxpayers’ pockets.
- According to the media he said that around 1 million people were left unemployed besides 80,000,000 businesses were affected by the implementation of restrictions against covid-19, severely affecting the economy.
- Part of the budget will also benefit those people who have several rent arrears; an investigation reported that immigrants will receive $28600 a year thanks to Cuomo’s funded program.
- New York Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy pointed to the move as a wake-up call to the waste of money being made without proper planning.
- “Democrats are about to pass a budget that increases taxes on New Yorkers and businesses by $4 billion while enacting a $2 billion fund that will provide $25,000 payments to illegal immigrants,” Langworthy said.
