France: China’s government seeks ways to defend Uyghur genocide

  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) –  French media reported that a Chinese state media CGTN released information provided by a freelance journalist Laurene Beaumond.
  • There is currently a controversy about the French journalist; the Chinese media claimed that Beaumond had made a report specifying that there is no crime in the Xinjiang region.
  • The journalist made some criticisms towards Western countries for having argued that the information on the Uyghur ethnic group was totally false according to the French government, however the French government investigated the name in the universities and it did not appear in the registry of graduates.
  • An article by Beaumond made known through CGTN that concentration camps, castration crimes, sexual assault, forced labor, were “Fake News”.
  • The Chinese media claimed that the journalist had been residing in the country for more than 7 years, on the other hand the French authorities made further inquiries about the credentials or some possible informative publications but found nothing.
  • An investigation of her user on social networks found that Beumond’s twitter account was created 1 month ago, and there were no indications of other publications on other sites.
  • Then the media outlet Le Figaro reported that the name “Laurene Beaumond” is a pseudonym, claiming that the person exists, yet it remains in debate because the French citizen did not identify herself with her real name if she defended the CCP.
  • Even foreign affairs representative Hua Chunying confirmed the identity of the person who wrote the article, and insisted that Beumond’s claims were entirely true about the Xinjiang region.
