China Expects Biden Administration to Remove Sanctions Against Iran

  • By Ely Márquez
  • (General Dispatch) – Iranian media reported its gratitude to the Chinese government for acting as an intermediary to “solve” the ongoing political conflict over the production of nuclear weapons.
  • Iran has signed large commercial contracts for 25 years with Beijing, amounting to $400,000 billion; such an agreement has generated controversy, as the CCP funding may affect the geopolitical game in the region.
  • Through a television channel Irani PressTV showed the way Carl Zha mocked the US, at the moment that Iran and China signed the agreement, seeing this act as a failure for Biden’s presidency; however Iranian opponents complained as an apparent sale of the country to the CCP.
  • Different media have affirmed these actions as a strategy of China to continue its expansionism worldwide, trying to have influence in all political, economic and social spheres.
  • It may also be a way to let the Biden administration know that they can negotiate despite the warnings announced by the White House against countries that negotiate with Iran.
  • On the other hand, China has asked the Biden administration to lift its sanctions against Iran for violating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
  • Cheng Hua, China’s ambassador to Iran. “The U.S. should return to the agreement unconditionally and lift all illegal sanctions against Iran and long-arm jurisdiction over a third party.”
  • Even so the Biden administration has not pronounced on these requests, it is hoped that Iran will desist from its nuclear program, and can offer truthful evidence, perhaps the White House can issue a response in the short term.
