China Warns White House not to Interfere with Winter Olympics

  • By Wayne Rodrigo
  • (General Dispatch) – The Beijing AP media outlet issued a warning against President Biden not to interfere in the Olympic Games being held in Beijing in 2022.
  • The Biden administration is discussing with the international community about the crimes that have been committed in the Xinjiang region to small ethnic groups including the Uyghurs.
  • A representative Zhao Lijian of the Chinese foreign ministry has reported that the CCP is not committing any crimes. According to the Chinese authorities they are helping the neediest ethnic groups by offering them “free education”.
  • Lijian reported that involving international political issues will create a division, apart from interfering with the development of the Olympic Games, and may create conflicts among athletes, if such accusations are maintained.
  • Various human rights groups have protested including Uyghur activists who have prepared reports and sent them to the UN as proof of the genocide being committed by the CCP.
  • Apart from the Uyghurs there are other small ethnic groups such as the Tibetans, who have suffered from the crimes against humanity committed by the authorities through concentration camps.
  • The U.S. State Department was evaluating a possible “boycott” measure to be applied against China, but it may not be developed after several U.S. Olympic committees opposed the application of such measures.
  • White House Secretary Jen Psaki said “We have not discussed, and are not discussing, any joint boycott with allies and partners” other than that she hopes they will be able to vaccinate large numbers of people by 2022 so they can travel to enjoy the Olympics.
