  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) – According to the New York Post, an Australian Internet 2.0 security firm revealed an apparent watch list in the possession of the Chinese government.
  • According to the list contained different names of officials from America as well as other parts of the world, it details all information from names, addresses, passport numbers, of those people who had passed through Shanghai Pudong International Airport between 2018 and 2020.
  • The list includes at least one name of important officials from the US State Department, businessmen, lawyers, researchers, professors, tourists, and even contained minors.
  • Investigations are underway to find out what China’s objective is in obtaining this data, apart from the fact that Australian and British citizens are involved. One possible theory is that China is looking for possible Uyghur travelers in order to target them as terrorists.
  • On the other hand, according to the NYP, the Chinese government had installed camera systems to track license plates of cars, besides having a face reader to identify people.
  • This strict measure is about a possible follow-up that the CCP is proposing to continue to apply detentions to the inhabitants of the ethnic groups of the Xinjiang region, and thus accuse them of crimes they have not committed.
  • Robert Potter and David Robinson, leading members of Internet 2.0, said that the Chinese country’s ambitions are being made known without regard for people’s security and privacy.
  • Security analysts said China is creating pilot projects to identify and track people internationally, violating the rights and bypassing the security standards of other nations.
