John Kerry Expects China to Comply with the Climate Treaty

  • (General Dispatch) – The US representative for the climate treaty, John Kerry, said he had some hope that the Chinese government would come through on its pledges to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Through the media outlet India Today, Kerry reported on his visit to India that he expects action from the Chinese government, as the Asian country is a key player in the climate agreement.
  • China is forecasting through its apparent projects to bring carbon emissions to 0 by 2060, different studies by the website “Climate Action Tracker” has revealed that China’s energy increase has soared even more despite the pandemic.
  • According to different media outlets, they have claimed that the CCP has signed gigantic contracts for the creation of plants to manage to meet the immense demand for energy, measures that go against the ideas of the “Paris agreement”.
  • “We want to work with China to do this. What President Biden has said is that we will have our differences on some issues. Clearly we do. So does India,” Kerry said.
  • Kerry’s goal is to get to actions and not just words, but he assured that everything can be achieved if nations work together, so that all countries can benefit.
  • Kerry said that Biden’s administration is fully committed to provide climate solutions, leaving aside the political issues that nations have, both social and economic.
  • Although the meeting was unplanned, it is expected to continue to follow up on the climate agenda, including the presence of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
