Police Officer Stabbed in New York City

  • (General Dispatch) –    A 25-year-old man was arrested after stabbing a police officer and causing a car accident on Long Island.
  • According to the ABC news media, the affected police stated that the individual was driving suspiciously, and that the car did not have its lights on at night on South Ocean Avenue in Patchogue.
  • The report issued by the police said that upon noticing the infraction, an attempt was made to stop the vehicle, activating the siren, but he ignored it, accelerating at full speed, generating a chase.
  • Then minutes later the fugitive crashed into another vehicle, opened the driver’s door, and ignored the orders of Officer Christopher Racioppo, then began a fight, leaving the officer seriously injured by a stab wound to his leg.
  • CBS New York reported that after the officer was badly injured and losing consciousness a fellow officer Taylor Herbst arrived for backup, who got him lying on the ground, losing a large amount of blood.
  • Racioppo was subsequently rushed to a Stony Brook University hospital center, where he underwent surgery after being diagnosed with a ruptured artery.
  • “Nunez was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. He was admitted to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue and will be arraigned at a later date” said ABC news media.
