United Kingdom is Criticized by the UN After Submitting Racist Report
- By John Deloria
- (General Dispatch) – A team of experts advising the UN on human rights issues has criticized a report submitted by the United Kingdom that says there is no systemic racism in the country.
- It was with great astonishment on Monday that the team of UN experts reacted to a report that reiterated racist tropes and stereotypes.
- Initially, white supremacy is again observed as the key essence of society, trying to persuade people that this is part of normality.
- Evidently, once again people of African descent are postulated as inferior to whites, all indications are that the mistakes made in the past persist.
- The disparity of racism is still present in the context of ethnic groups at the economic and educational levels, where inequality is clearly evident.
- Although Britain is not “institutionally racist” the 258-page report places special emphasis on the ways of life between blacks and whites, which is why to say there is no racism is a fallacy.
- Although the report does not condone racial discrimination and insists that inequality is part of the social context, it continues to represent a problem for the UK.
- A constant rhetoric between supporters and opponents concerning racism continues in disputes following the presentation of the report giving rise to diverse opinions.
