Vatican Blesses Muslims in the Practice of Ramadan

  • By Steph. G. Halston.
  • (General Dispatch) – The media in Rome have reported and sent a message of blessing to the entire Muslim community in support of their yearly practice of Ramadan.
  • “We, Christians and Muslims, are called to be bearers of hope, for the present life and for the life to come and to be witnesses, restorers and builders of this hope, especially for those who are going through difficulties and despair” said the secretary of the Vatican council.
  • Ramadan is a practice that begins on April 13, and consists of Muslims not eating, drinking and other activities while the sun rises.
  • The letter sent by the Vatican makes known the joy and good wishes, being this a month full of spiritual enrichment for the Muslim community, apart from different offerings that bring them even closer to “Allah”.
  • The letter was entitled “Christians and Muslims: Witnesses of Hope” trying to see spirituality in a different way in these times of conflict and chaos generated by the global pandemic.
  • With this practice, the letter emphasizes that “hope” is essential to rebuild the foundations that existed before the pandemic, and that there is a way out, even if it is difficult to reach the goal.
  • “Hope also entails faith in the goodness present in the heart of each person, often, in situations of difficulty and despair, the help and hope it brings can come from those we least expect,” the letter said.
  • Pope Francis spoke out and said that in these times we must be more united than ever regardless of ethnic, religious, social and economic backgrounds.
