Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Assert that Derek Chauvin’s Ruling is an Indictment of Suppressing America’s Systemic Racism

  • (General Dispatch) – After learning of Derek Chauvin’s verdict, U.S. President Joe Biden affirmed the convicted convict’s guilt for the murder of George Floyd.
  • During his speech Biden assured that the events that took place could open the eyes of the world to realize the systemic racism that is embedded in the soul of the nation. 
  • In addition, Biden considered the ruling as “a step forward” towards achieving social justice in the United States.
  • Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, emphasized the long history of systemic racism that has characterized the U.S. population, when people of African descent “have been treated as less than human. 
  • He also highlighted the inclusion that the country must begin to have with people of black skin in the educational, health, economic and housing systems, among many others.
  • In essence, the ruling sends a message to the nation that no race is above the law, Biden said.
  • Both presidents then urged the American people to fight to eradicate systemic racism in the United States, so that events like this do not continue to be part of the reality of the country.
  • In summary, Joe Biden’s speech made a call to awaken the conscience of citizens and to follow the path of peace, equality and justice, in order to build a new legacy.
