British Ministers Propose that Vaccination Passport not be Mandatory

  • By Jennifer Prill
  • (General Dispatch) –  British ministers are working on a project so that the “vaccination passport” is not required on a mandatory basis as proposed by Minister Boris Johnson.
  • Minister Boris will be making various announcements about the discussions on the issue, with a conclusion expected to be reached by the end of June.
  • The Times stated that the ministers hope that the passport will not be required in different places such as “doctors’ surgeries, hospitals, supermarkets, courts and police stations”.
  • Vaccine Minister Nadhim Zahawi said that different services may be denied to the population for those who refuse to present it, this being a discriminatory act, limiting the rights of citizens.
  • Johson had previously stated that the vaccination passport would only be a requirement for people to travel nationally and internationally, but he has changed his mind and now expects to implement it in places that provide a service.
  • On the other hand, Johnson said that some workers will be required to have it, exclusively for employees who provide services in homes, as this way they can help to prevent the virus from spreading to the most vulnerable population.
  • However, a large part of the population is reluctant about this measure because they see negatively that at the moment of presenting the vaccination passport it will be possible to visualize other health problems that the person suffers from besides the virus.
  • Another negative has been the security offered by the British government, so that the data cannot be leaked through devices, and the information can be used to violate the privacy of individuals.
