Republicans and Democrats Try to Agree on a Deal that Benefits Immigrants

  • By Jennifer Prill
  • (General Dispatch) – During this week a group of Republicans and Democrats held a private meeting to discuss how to reach an agreement on the immigration issue, mainly to grant amnesty to thousands of foreigners.
  • In the first term, the debate revolved around the potential amnesty of illegal and legal aliens who are part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, created by Obama.
  • Initially, the event was hosted by Senators John Cornyn and Dick Durbin who were accompanied by twelve Democrats and Republicans who are studying the feasibility of approving amnesty for 3.5 million foreigners.
  • Everything seems to indicate that there is a consensus on the approval of DACA, at a time when the border crisis is worsening.
  • The senators intend to mitigate a little the sustained crisis at the border due to the flow of immigrants that cross the border daily by approving this measure, which is not yet official.
  • However, this represents a considerable budget for the nation, aspects that are not being considered by the senators and that will undoubtedly bring new economic and social consequences for the U.S.
  • Meanwhile, the White House administration step by step is achieving each of the strategic objectives it set out only a hundred days into its term.
  • As a conclusion, the bill grants legality to foreign citizens, who will also have interference in the electoral processes, which seems to be Biden’s main interest.
