Andrew Cuomo Takes the Lead on Covid-19 Phone Talks While Joe Biden Ignores Them

  • By William Silgueiro
  • (General Dispatch) – Following Joe Biden’s absence on pandemic covid-19 issues, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is taking the lead on the conference calls along with the other governors.
  • In a report by Philip Wegmann of RealClearPolitics, he stated that President Joe Biden and his counterpart Kamala Harris are not joining the governors’ weekly conference calls.
  • The information was confirmed in the press conference offered by the White House this Monday, where Secretary Jen Psaki, argued that the President has not joined the task force, after the promise made publicly by the President.
  • In that sense, the New York governor, together with the White House coronavirus team and the other governors, is leading the conference calls in his role as head of the National Governors Association.
  • The press secretary, for her part, argued that the governor was appointed in the absence of the vice president because it was a necessary change, while the president is engaged in the massive distribution of vaccines.
  • All this is happening in the midst of numerous scandals accusing Governor Cuomo of taking contrary actions when he forced covid-19 patients to stay in nursing homes, putting the lives of many at risk.
  • Likewise, the White House appoints a governor who is currently facing sexual misconduct allegations against his colleagues, investigations of which continue to unfold.
  • Despite President Joe Biden’s apparent efforts to immunize the population, the operational development of the pandemic has been left in the hands of the governor.
