- (General Dispatch) – The Democratic faction of the Senate is working to reinstate regulations designed by former President Donald Trump that limit potent greenhouse gas emissions from oil and gas fields.
- Initially, the proposal arises after U.S. President Joe Biden made known the special interest he has in addressing the climate change discussed at the last climate summit.
- It should be noted that the resolution was initially supported by three Republican senators who, together with the Democrats, backed the measure, which required a simple majority.
- The legislation will now head to the Senate where the final decision, which is expected to be approved, will be made.
- In retrospect the Environmental Protection Agency last year approved the more flexible methane rule to ensure the strengthening and promotion of American energy.
- Although at the time the decision was criticized for the environmental impact it caused, part of the objectives were achieved, but this will be a thing of the past with the new measure.
- On the contrary, Senator Shelley Moore Capit indicated that the Democrats are determined to destroy natural gas, after the production of the chemical has boosted the U.S. economy.
- It is expected that in the coming weeks Congress will deliberate the viability of this project proposed by the Democrats, which makes little sense at a time when gas production is booming.
