President Biden Calls Israel 28 Days Later

  • By Ely Márquez
  • (General Dispatch) – The news became official after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, tweeted a photo announcing the expected call.
  • “The conversation was very warm and friendly and continued for approximately one hour,” the prime minister’s office wrote on Twitter.
  • “The two leaders noted their long standing personal connection and said they would work together to continue strengthening the steadfast alliance between Israel and the US,” the statement concluded.
  • The two leaders talked about the peace treaties, discussed the Iranian issue and how the Israel-US strategic alliance should continue to function, and it is hoped that they can continue to cooperate in the future in all strategic fields.
  • President Biden’s belated call was taken and commented by many as a snub to Israel, as well as an unwise move since Israel is one of the main allies of the United States.
  • The Israeli Prime Minister had a warm relationship with former President Donald Trump, who two days into his presidency called him and invited him to come to the United States in February. Netanyahu also described him as “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in White House.”
  • On the other hand, when Biden was asked about the call with the Israeli prime minister, he replied flatly “It was a good conversation”.
  • For now it seems that the U.S.- Israel relationship is cold, we will see if the Biden administration will dispense with one of the nation’s most important strategic allies or find a way to optimize the relationship for the benefit of both countries.
