Amazon Boosts Productivity Through Video Games

  • (General Dispatch) – The electronic giant amazon is implementing a new game system, so that warehouse employees are motivated in their work and according to their performance have greater rewards.
  • The program is called “FC Games” contains 6 mini-games where each worker will have a user if desired and can compete with others, the one with the highest score will be eligible for rewards that can be exchanged for digital prizes.
  • Since 2019, the company has taken the initiative of gamification in order to obtain better results in the productivity of its employees, which has been successful. For this reason, it will extend the “FC Games” to 20 US states.
  • Amazon’s representative, Kent Hollenbeck, said that employees find this modality fun and something totally different from traditional jobs. In addition, there are a variety of games for employees to enjoy.
  • One example is a game called “Mission Racer” which as the employee is sorting boxes in the warehouse; the game moves the car and earns points through its classification.
  • However, there are employees who see this initiative as negative, as it can be a way to force employees to work faster and be a way to modern slavery.
  • Currently large companies want to modernize the systems to have fewer employees and increase productivity and thus have a greater amount of income.
