- (General Dispatch) – Frederica Wilson, a Democrat, has asked the Biden administration to move the children being held in shelters to South Florida.
- Wilson stated that the Homestead Detention Center is available in South Florida to hold the minors, and thus avoid the overcrowding that is occurring at the border facilities.
- Even so, the Biden administration has not commented on the proposal of Democrat Wilson, but the intentions of this decision is to help the serious crisis that Biden maintains at the border.
- Wilson said that measures must now be implemented and immigration policies must try to succeed even though they have failed to reduce the levels of unrepresented children entering the country.
- However, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party and Senator Rubio have strictly criticized the Democrat’s proposal, saying that the conditions are not right for the transfer of minors to take place.
- Senator Rubio said through a CBS Miami interview that this type of proposal is to not report the real reason Florida Democrats, the slow deportation process has led to having the facilities at maximum capacity at the border.
- Rubio said “we have seen an increase in the arrival of minors at the border over the last month. And the reason there is an increase is because the message has gotten out that there is this new president, there is the new administration. And if you show up at the border with children, you’re going to be prosecuted.”
- One of the serious problems presented by the Biden administration is the treatment of immigrants in a health crisis, for now they are isolating people who have tested positive for the virus, but the facilities cannot accommodate the excess of immigrants trying to enter the nation daily, besides that the processes have been late.
