  • (General Dispatch) – A study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that one of the major causes of death in the U.S. has been due to covid-19.
  • The CDC’s National Vital Statistics System released figures on the death rate suffered by the U.S. nation in 2020 where there were about 375,000 casualties as a result of the Chinese virus.
  • The CDC ranked the deaths by groups where non-Hispanic blacks were the most affected population with a high number of casualties, however, Latinos and Native Americans had similar numbers.
  • During 2020, hospital facilities in April and December suffered the highest number of deaths, with death certificates mostly specifying that the cases were due to covid-19 causes.
  • It is assumed that the mortality rate increased by 16% from 2019 to 2020, the most affected population were older adults over 70 years old, among that group African Americans and Hispanics.
  • On the other hand, one of the groups that managed to have low numbers were minors, where their body has managed to fight the virus naturally.
  • The CDC made a list and positioned COVID as the third leading cause of death in 2020, although it stated that this type of information may be subject to change since at first it was not reported if there were any deaths related to the virus.
  • However, the CDC reported that in the first quarter of 2021, deaths from covid-19 have decreased dramatically since people began to be immunized with the vaccines.
