- (General Dispatch) – Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair advises that immunization campaigns should be accelerated and aim to immunize everyone as soon as possible.
- Blair said that coronavirus mutations can advance faster by becoming more resistant to the vaccines that have been developed so far, according to the former minister all this can be achieved by 2022.
- “The biggest risk we have now is not the absence of vaccination in the UK, because we are doing well with vaccination. . The biggest risk we have is that, unless the world vaccinates quickly, we run the risk of getting more mutations and eventually having a mutation against which we find the vaccines are ineffective,” Blair told BBC Radio 4’s Today radio station.
- Blair, who belongs to the Labour Party, has been trying to boost his popularity as a political figure after his failure to try various measures to prevent the UK from leaving the European bloc.
- He has now tried to advise the health secretary on all those measures that have been tried to be implemented, a clear example, requesting the implementation of the vaccine passport by the end of this year.
- Tony Blair’s institute is expected to issue some reports on an apparent plan where the international community can work as a team, and thus give a positive prognosis for reducing the coronavirus.
- Currently, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s agenda is to gradually relax the strict restrictions that have been imposed since the beginning of the pandemic, and this is due to the successful vaccination campaign in the country.
- On the other hand, Blair said in the interview that he regrets that the United Kingdom has left the European bloc, since, if it had remained, the outlook for European countries would have been different in terms of the immunization campaign.
