Former British Army Captain Calls Conservatives Cowards

  • By Ely Márquez
  • (General Dispatch) – Johnny Mercer MP, a former British Army captain, called the Conservatives “cowards” after they expelled him from office via text message.
  • It is presumed that such action was taken by the government since Mercer issued a report alleging that Prime Minister Boris Johnson should resign for being unable to protect Northern Ireland’s veterans.
  • Currently in parliament they are debating the “Overseas Operations Bill” which is focused on offering some protection to war veterans, however they have excluded those who served in Northern Ireland.
  • Theresa May along with Boris had promised in public that the legal persecution they have against Northern Ireland veterans for apparent crimes would end, however it was confirmed that May blocked protections for veterans by another route.
  • Mercer’s annoyance was that he had been promised legislation that defends veterans in conjunction with the Overseas Operations Bill, but apparently the Conservatives were not comfortable with such complaints, so they opted to make the former captain resign in public while by text message they fired him.
  • Mercer angrily told the Telegraph media outlet that “This is a bunch of average lawyers and politicians sucking on a fire hose of public money, trashing veterans in the process and lengthening the pain of families.”
  • He totally questioned Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s leadership, pointing out that they surround themselves with so-called “advisors” who are inept at dealing with complex situations in politics.
  • On the other hand politician Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, in 2019 said “The reality is that IRA terrorists were given letters to allow them to return home after fleeing and evading justice” by the Conservatives.
