North Carolina Proclaims Emergency Situation Before Screening Video Recording Andrew Brown Shooting

  • (General Dispatch) – This Monday the video recording the shooting of Andrew Brown will be released, which is why North Carolina officials declared a state of emergency prior to the release.
  • In retrospect, last Wednesday the now 42-year-old Brown was shot and killed by officers while executing an arrest warrant, witnesses say he was walking away after calls to stop by officers.
  • The video will be released this Monday at around 11:30 a.m. for the court and the general public to judge the events recorded in the footage.
  • The measure was taken with the purpose that civil demonstrations do not end up disturbing the tranquility of the city and vandalism actions are executed.
  • In the meantime, schools and commercial premises will remain closed today, until normality is observed in the development of the expected events.
  • For his part, Mayor Bettie J. Parker said: “I am addressing the mayor’s office today, I direct all departments and agencies of the City of Elizabeth to take all necessary measures to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide such emergency assistance as deemed necessary to preserve public safety,” she added.
  • The tension in the city is very noticeable, as the case surrounding Brown’s murder grows as the hours go by, because it is unknown what images the video may record.
  • In the meantime, the city will continue to be guarded until it is known what really happened last Wednesday and the judge can judge the facts.
