  • (General Dispatch) –  The Brussels AP media reported that fortunately the political leaders of both parties and the companies managed to reach an agreement for future trade negotiations, despite the fact that there are still differences between the former partners.
  • Since the United Kingdom separated from the European bloc, the main concern was the outlook that would remain between trade relations, however it was reported that free trade without quotas or tariffs will be maintained.

  • The members of the European Parliament voted on the proposal to maintain free trade with the United Kingdom and it was approved by 660, despite the fact that 5 years ago it was set aside since the United Kingdom’s announcement to separate from the European bloc.
  • Although the decision of the exit of the United Kingdom was criticized by EU legislators, warning that if the British country were to leave, it would not enjoy the same benefits as the other countries of the bloc.
  • The president of BusinessEurope, Pierre Gattaz, saw it as positive that the agreement would have clarity and legal certainty, although he doubted about the long-term effects, saying that despite the difficulties of the pandemic, trade could pick up again without any uncertainties.
  • Although the British economy plummeted in January by 5.7 billion pounds and made a slight recovery in February of 3.7 billion pounds, the British government said that the problems in the economy were due to the tight restrictions that had been implemented.
  • On the other hand, the EU said that this agreement will provide legal tools to minimize the tensions that exist over the Northern Ireland issue and thus “prevent and protect against unilateral divergence from the obligations that both parties signed up to”.
